Looking over the ingredients all of the amino acids are in the L form which is important for absorption. Along with the primary amino acids we also find Glutamine, and Taurine which is a nice added bonus. The amino acid I look at first is Leucine. I want to make sure there is a good bit per serving and then chekcing IsoLeucine and Valine to fall into a ratio of about 2:1:1 or half that of the Leucine, On Amino Drive Black that is exactly what I see, 3 grams leucine, 1.5 grams isoleucine and 1.5 grams valine. Most likely my workouts will take require 8 to 10 servings and for between meals 2 to 4 servings in 20 ounces water.
The second time I use my BCAA powder is when I am training and for about 5-10 minutes after training; when I arrive home from my workout I have a protein shake then a meal. I want to have Leucine, IsoLeucine, and Valine in my body for my muscles and I want the workout to raise my growth and test levels - If I were to add in carbs at this time or immediately after training the growth levels would be shut down..So easy 20 minutes from the gym and I am eating again.
I also use BCAA pills throughout the day when timing and fast availability isn't my main concern and benefit. I am looking for extra aminos between meals and the powder would just be a little much. When going for a BCAA pill I also choose something with a full amino acid complex instead of just the three like in the powder.
I had my first taste of drive in the gym and I must be honest when I say it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was not expecting the amount of flavor that hit my mouth. It may sound delicious and if not mixed too heavily with extra servings... It is.. But for me it was like someone melted jolly ranchers and poured them in my mouth; maybe even covered with sour patch stuff! After diluting my BCAA powder with more and more water to get down to what a normal person might be eating the flavor was nice and tasty. Had a sweet flavor and the apple is more of a after thought of flavor rather than the center point.
Nutrex Amino Drive Black mixes super easy as well. Most times it is impossible to get BCAA powder to completely dissolve and it will stick to everything. Black mixes like a pre-workout and is very easy to work with. I could even see this stuff mixing in a glass..That is some big news for BCAA powder! All-in-all my first experience with Nutrex Amino Drive Black was surprising, tasty, and good. My workout was productive and at no point did I think Black wasn't up to the job or that I had another product in my shaker.
So- Breakdown look at NUTREX AMINO DRIVE BLACK - Apple Ambush
Exterior Design: Good solid tub, really liked the colors and aggressive styling 7/10
Smell: Nothing really when checking out the tub, but some apple slightly comes into the air when mixing 8/10
Mixing Ability: This stuff mixes like a champ 7/10
Drink Ability / Sustainability: Goes down easy, somewhat heavy in the stomach 5/10
Flavor: Using a small bit the flavor was tasty and something you could probably be okay with but bringing up the grams it started to be more and more undrinkable. It was sweet and sour to the extreme and made my face pucker and shake.
Living with Black: Felt great eating 6 servings a day, strong, and my workouts were all productive but I felt I needed more time to make a real decision here so it's gonna stay blank 0/0
Over All: D+ 6/10
